The focus of my study is the Pace Perk. Based in Pace University (Pleasantville Campus), it is a student-run business that is underneath a dormitory (Martin Hall). It is a late-night cafe, running from 9pm-1am. It is based in a New England town, on a college campus in an upper-class suburb in New York. Pleasantville is a small town, with a lack of things to do at night unless you are over the age of 21. For the purposes of my study, I am looking specifically at the socialization that occurs at a business like this, that is based on a college campus and is specifically geared towards college students. I want to know why people come here, and what kind of environment is provided, and how they cater to the college crowd.
